John Capobianco is the owner operator of Capobianco Creations, a landscape, gardening and bonsai teaching company. He is a locally recognized bonsai artist and lecturer and has won numerous first place ribbons for his bonsai. He is the bonsai instructor at the New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx, and curator of the bonsai collection at the John P. Humes Japanese Stroll Garden in Mill Neck.
He has lectured and conducted workshops extensively for bonsai clubs, local garden clubs and arboretums. He is on the New York State Federated Garden Club’s list of approved speakers.
He specializes in a rare form of bonsai that utilizes special varieties of chrysanthemums. He has received the National Chrysanthemum Society’s Silver Medal for his Educational Displays on the ‘Making of Chrysanthemum Bonsai’ four times. He has received the NCS Gold Medal for his displays of over 30 sq ft of chrysanthemum bonsai 5 times.
He is Past President of the Bonsai Society of Greater New York, and Past President of the Long Island Chrysanthemum Society. He served as the Show Chair of the 55th Annual Long Island Chrysanthemum Society’s Shows, and Co-Chair of the Bonsai Society of Greater New York’s Inaugural Yoshimura Bonsai Show and Convention.
